Product FAQ

Our products are all made in studio. Made proudly in Canada in small batches, ethically, recycling our metals in studio.

What metals do you use?

We use majority sterling silver and silicon bronze for our ear weights. Our Threadless ends and other piercing jewellery are made in solid 14K yellow gold or niobium.

Sterling silver, 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper your items will have a natural patina over time.

Silicon bronze, 95% copper, 4% silicon, 1% manganese. Your bronze will have a patina over time and can create a black oxide on the skin if worn for long periods of time (Approximately 8+ hrs). Please use proper hygiene when wearing silicon bronze ear weights, hangers and plugs.

Are your items hypoallergenic?

We have a mix of biocompatible, implant grade and hypoallergenic materials.

Anyone who has a fresh piercing, a body piercing (meaning in the mouth or under the skin), or is actively stretching their lobes should look for items made of biocompatable materials such as titanium, niobium, platinum, glass, gold at or above 14k, or plastics that have been found ISO 10993 complaint.

Our Threadless ends are 14K solid yellow gold, where as our seam rings are niobium. Our stretching plugs are ISO 10993 Compliant resin.

Our Nano-Ceramic Coating is a safe alternative hypoallergenic coating for those with sensitivity's to copper alloys, making ear weights more accessible. Many individuals whom love ear weights but have skin greening due to contact with copper enjoy or clear and coloured nano ceramic coated items.

Non-hypoallergenic materials such as silicone bronze are fine for use in healed lobe piercings or for other forms of jewellery (rings, pendants, etc).

All of our metals are nickel free.

Proper sizing for stretched ears.

All items will be marked in millimetres and or gauges please purchase something at or under your current size. Please clean the ear weights and plugs appropriately after use.

All earrings/plugs/ear weights are sold as pairs unless otherwise indicated.

What weight is appropriate for my gauge size?

If you have never worn weights before it is common to be concerned about how comfortable they will be. Like with stretching itself it is best to start at the lowest size weight and work up.

Beginner: 20-35 grams

Intermediate: 35-50 grams

Experienced: 50-70 grams

Advanced: 70+ grams

Weights are appropriate for all gauge sizes. The larger your lobe is the easier the heavier ear weights are to wear. We have clients that are up to 250 grams per lobe.

Can I use ear weights to stretch?

NO. Do not use our ear weights to stretch. Ear weights are not a constructive way to stretch as depending on the amount of weight, the health of your lobes, and the size of the wearable the amount of tension on the lobe will vary. This means the lobe could stretch, do nothing, or even shrink. Attempting to use heavy ear weights without previous experience can result in lobe thinning, tearing, and other possible issues.

Weights are to be worn for a maximum of 8hrs/day.

Shipping

Items are shipped with tracking. Items will take up to 1-2 week(s) to leave the studio as the majority of items are made to order. Shipping times will depend on location.

Any items shipped outside of Canada may incur import taxes, duties, tariffs, or brokerage charges. These fees are the responsibility of the client. It is advisable to research import fee structures for your country before placing your order.

We are a minimal packaging company. Your items will be shipped securely but you will not see multiple boxes, wrapping paper, postcards etc with your delivery as we try to reduce waste.

Returns

All returns must be initiated within 20 days of purchase. To begin the process, please email info@clearmindcasting.com. Items must be returned unopened, in their original packaging, and shipped at the customer’s expense.

All return shipments must include valid tracking. Clear Mind is not responsible for lost or undelivered return packages. Items purchased on sale will be refunded at the sale price paid. Refunds are processed within three (3) business days of the item being received at our studio. Processing times for funds to appear in your account vary by payment provider; please contact your provider directly for details.

For health and hygiene reasons, body jewellery is not eligible for return or exchange. Customized orders are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange.

Refused Shipments

If a shipment is refused and returned to Clear Mind, a refund will be processed within three (3) business days of the order arriving back at our studio. Any import duties, tariffs, brokerage fees, return shipping costs, or other charges billed to Clear Mind as a result of the refusal will be deducted from the eligible refund amount.

Example:
Order total: $250 + $25 shipping = $275
Import and brokerage fees: $97
If these charges are billed back to Clear Mind due to shipment refusal, the eligible refund would be $153.

Exchanges

Items are available for exchange within 45 days of purchase. We do not offer exchange on items once vacuum sealed packaging is opened. We only except exchanges for items of similar or lesser value, we do not offer store credit. The item must be shipped back at the customers expense. All items must be shipped back with tracking, we are not responsible for lost items. Items purchased on sale will be exchanged at the sale price.
