Shipping Changes at Clear Mind Jewellery: What You Need to Know About the Canada Post Strike
Hey Clear Mind Family,
We’re writing to keep you in the loop about some temporary changes coming to shipping here at Clear Mind Jewellery. As you may have heard, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have announced strike action will start Friday, May 23rd, if an agreement is not reached. This has a ripple effect on how we get our handmade pieces from our bench to your hands.
Transparency is part of our ethos, and we want you to feel informed and empowered as you make choices about your orders during this time. Last year the strike lasted 32 days and caused serious concerns for some individuals around the Holidays. We have updated our response this time.

What’s Changing?
Small items will be temporarily be removed from our website and re-stocks will be pushed to another month. We’ll bring items back as soon as Canada Post is reliably back in action.
This includes our stretching plugs. We also intended to launch a series of retainers but this will have to wait until after the strike action has ended, or announcement is made about a signed agreement.
Orders Before May 20th at 5PM
To take care of those who already have purchased, we’re upgrading all orders placed before May 20th at 5PM to UPS shipping — with no additional charges. We will cover the difference between what you paid and what it will cost to get the parcels out.
Shipping Options Starting May 21st
To give you choices that work for your timeline and budget, we’re rolling out two new shipping options at checkout starting May 21st:
-
$15 Flat Rate Shipping (Canada & USA):
We’ll lovingly pack your order and hold it safely until Canada Post resumes regular service. Your parcel will be the first out the door when things get moving again. -
$30 UPS Shipping (Canada & USA):
Orders using this option will ship out via UPS the Friday after you place your order. This ensures minimal delays and keeps your pieces moving while Canada Post hits pause.
For items that are made to order the 2 week production time is still in effect. Fingers crossed if you pick the Canada Post option that the strike action will be over when your item is ready.
We will start holding items immediately, as we do not wish for items to get stuck and lost in transit during strike action. If an agreement is reached prior to Friday we will ship all parcels via the chosen carrier as items are ready.
International Orders (Outside the Americas)
Unfortunately, due to the high cost of UPS and Purolator for international shipping, we’re unable to offer those options to countries outside of North and South America at this time. If you’re ordering from overseas, we will hold your parcel securely until Canada Post resumes operations. We truly appreciate your understanding — we know this isn’t ideal, but we want to avoid passing on excessive shipping fees.
Custom Orders
If you have put in a custom order request and have already issued your deposit we will honour the shipping quote provided on your invoice. We will be paying any difference between what was quoted and what is needed to ship your items via UPS.
If you have put in a custom order request and have yet to issue your deposit we will now be quoting shipping costs via UPS or offering to hold parcels, where appropriate.
We know this adds complexity. Handmade jewellery already has wait times, and now we’re adding uncertainty. But as always, your patience supports small-scale, ethical making, and we couldn’t do this without you.
If you’ve got questions, or want help navigating these options, drop us a line. We’re here, and we’re listening.
With gratitude and clarity,
Shannon and Dan
